This is a really beautiful picture. The Morrigan is my favourite goddess, and her raven is very cool too! You portrayed so much emotion here, I feel sad just looking at it. Very good job, welcome to elfwood!

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I love the Morrigan and find a lot of inspiration thinking about her. Please come back often to see what other things I can come up with. I truly appreciate your comments."

*chuckles* You all know the story of Morrigan le Fey, so I won't re-tell it, but I do wish she could have been more helpful towards her half-brother. Still, she is an interesting peice of history/fiction/reality! >.<

:-) Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: ""HaHaHa" Yea, we know all of the stories about Morgan Le Fay, but I am sure that somewhere there is the truth. 12

There is a different twist to her story in the novel "Mist of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley. If you like the stories of Arthur and Camelot, you will love this one!!! It is taken from a woman's pagan perspective vs a male christian one. It is worth the read for anyone who is interested. I love it and will make sure to read it at least once a year in the future! Note the book is found in the Fantasy section of most bookstores."

I was wondering where you got the saying for the picture or if you made it up yourself. I am an artist also of many styles. It reminds me of August 2003.

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "This picture came about August of 2004 when I found out my grandmother was going to die and I finished the sketch of it the day before she died. I had been watching the movie "Mist of Avalon" and I was thinking about Morgan le Fay. This picture came to me when I was thinking about the end of one cycle of life for my grandmother. I am sorry I am really not sure what you mean by August 2003. This is a complete original by me!"

Great background. Great feathers. Great shading. Those are what you did *great* on. This is an awsome picture. Critisizm: I hope I don't sound rude but I think her eyes are to far apart. But other than that the picture is perfect. I like that mark on her head. Is it a birth mark, or a scar?

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I have to agree with you on the eyes, after it was inked it was to late to fix. The cresent moon on her forehead is the sign of the Goddess (paganism) 12 Thank you for the great comments! Please come back soon I should have 4 more up at any time."

Birdie horray! I like her she has a very lovely face and I like the eclipse too.

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "Thank you so much, this one has a very special meaning for me. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving comments!!!"

This is my favourite I think, she looks strong and determined to face her future with a brave heart.
You would love the book by Marion Zimmer Bradley ( i noticed you mention her) called Lythande.

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "  Thank you for the wonderful commments!!! Your description is definately the way that I picture Morrigan & and I love Marion Zimmer Bradley. I will have to check that book out, thanks. 12"

Interesting portrait work. I think her face is a bit wide. The bird looks good. You might want to get a better scan/picture of this though. Looks a bit blurry.

13 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "Thanks, I agree on all accounts!!"

Very good piece except for two things that stand out to me. The eyes are too far apart, they should line up so that the end of the mouth meets the half way point of the eye when one measures it. Also the hair on the top of her head appears flatter than the rest of her hair. Maybe it just needs a little more volume on top is all.

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "I agree with you on both of the C.C for this one. But, it is to late to fix it. One of those to learn from. 2"

Bonjour! I just wanted to say that i love morgan le fay and i especially love your dipiciton of her...I think she is misunderstood, i've read several renditions and urs is beautiful...Yay...And to add to what someone above said, she was evil sometimes but in was her who took arthur to avalon, right, right? Love ya!

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "  I don't think she was ever evil, just very much misunderstood and tainted by rumors from the catholic church. Sometimes we have to do what is right, but that looks off or wrong to other people, so it is easier for them to just slap the label of evil on some one. 12I am glad you like the way I do her, I find her fasinating to say the least. You gotta read Mist of Avalon, you will just fall in love with it!!!"
