A mermaid commission done for a gentleman in the United Kingdom. I have his permission to post this, Thanks Adam!

First commission done and I am really proud of it. Mediums used: Prismacolor Markers, colored pencils, and watercolor pencils. Done on illustration board (15x20). Sadly, because I had to take a picture of this alot of the shading that is in the original was lost in the transfer to the computer. Please note the original does have a lot of shading. ;)

****Thank you so much to the Moderators for choosing this one, I am deeply and truly honored!!!!!****

Beautiful work on the scales. I love her pose and care-free expression ^^

I really like this pic. I agree with the hair comment although I know how detail sucking scanners can be. I do think that the torches would create much more dramatic shadows but all in all very good! I wish I could draw this well. Congrats on Mods!

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. It has been so long since anyone has. I was starting to wonder if anyone was on the site any more. And yes the cameras and scanners do a lot of taking away of detail from the original! ;("

I think mermaids are some of the sexiest carefree creatures ever and you have done a superb job of creating one, she is beautiful. Well done.
They are right about the shading, I'd have liked to see the original, I'm presuming the original was quite large, and camera flash has taken some of the depth out of your work? Good luck with photoshopping it

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "Thank you so much! Yea, the original is so much bigger with a whole lot shading I hate trying to take pictures of the artwork, but most of the time it is the only way I can get them onto the computer."

The man who commissioned this is sexist. He regards women as nothing more but sex objects to ogle and gawk at.

1 Valarie ´FaerieLight´ Connell replies: "Well, I guess we all have our opinions and mine really differs from yours. Just to let you know, it was given to his girlfriend as a gift. This was the way SHE wanted the commission to be, so I guess if a person only has a little piece of the information, they really can judge another (sarcasim). So, he is the sexist person? He requested a woman artist (me), woman subject (his girlfriend), and a gift for the same woman who modeled for it and it is hanging on HER wall. If you have a problem with nude females, maybe it is best if you just skip over that artwork in the future. Since when is a woman a sex object if she is nude or topless? Women should be proud of their bodies and my artwork is tastefully done. So, thanks for stopping by, to bad you did not leave a comment about the piece it's self. Have a great day!"

I definitely have to agree with Stephanie Chateau about the seducing, and damn it's working well! 2¯¯°
